EUROPE, I’VE MISSED YOU! MY 4 REASONS TO VISIT EUROPE IN 2023

I haven’t been to Europe since 2019 when we visited with my soon to be son-in-law. I feel so honored that I was able to show him the joys of traveling and the many different cultures and beautiful sites around Europe.

For many years my family and I have traveled through Europe and there are four reasons we keep comin back.

Read on if traveling to Europe has been on your mind as well, and discover what keeps me coming back.   I believe that these four reasons would speak to all types of travelers. If you are traveling solo or in a group or with your family I believe Europe has something for everyone!

1. The history of Europe is like nowhere else in the world

We have all read world history and studied it in school but until you get the chance to actually see, touch, smell a place; history is a distant thought. For most of us when you are able to see history all around you it comes alive!

Touring a castle isn’t something that we can do in America so I love taking time with a tour guide and listening to all the history that are held within a castle’s walls. Imagine sitting at this very desk hundreds of years ago!

2. The beach, the countryside, the city

Don’t let the dark imposing castles fool you, beautiful scenery abounds.

The diversity of Europe is amazing! You can visit the beach and in a short distance be inside a castle on a hill. I must admit beaches are my favorite since I live in a climate that has a lot of rain I enjoy my summers by strolling along the beach.

In the city I enjoy sitting outside a bakery first thing in the morning sipping a coffee and watching the local people rushing to-and-fro as they are headed to their different destinations.

We walked all over the countryside of Andorra, the  beautiful scenery, with small homes and hairy horses running up to greet those walking on the tour, was storybook like. Andorra is the smallest country in Europe and is nestled on a side of a mountain!

3. The people and food

The best thing about traveling to a different country is meeting new people! Every country I visit I try to take a cooking class, and a walking tour. I find that when you immerse yourself in the culture this way you have a genuine feel of the country. Talk, ask questions and by doing so you have a better understanding of a lifestyle that may be very different than your own.

I have had the privilege of experiencing a cooking class in Bologna Italy that was simply a delight! We didn’t realize that the class was to be conducted in the person’s home and that we would be meeting three generations of the family! Everyone participated in teaching us how to make different types of pasta. We still make pasta at home and remember fondly the family we spent the day with.

4. The Adventure

Travel in and of itself is an adventure, but what about once you reach your destination? If you’re like me doing something new is terrifying but I have learned it is also the most exhilarating experience you can have on vacation!

Climbing a mountain like Snowdon in Wales or traversing a swinging bridge, adventure is whatever you make it.

The accomplishment along with fond memories and pictures are something that you get to bring home with you. I know that is what has kept me going during the lockdown we experienced in 2020.

As you can see Europe has something for everyone these are my four reasons for traveling to Europe in 2023, what are yours?

Happy Travels
